How can I exclude remote staff testing from GA4 when their IP addresses change?

If people’s home or VPN IPs keep changing, don’t try to chase them with GA4 IP rules—they only mark events when the current public IP matches a defined address or range. For real test sessions, use GA4’s Developer Traffic filter and have testers use debug mode; after you verify it in Testing, make it Active. That filter excludes data collected while debug mode is on, regardless of IP. If you also need ordinary staff browsing out of reporting, add an explicit internal marker in GTM or the Google tag (usually from a staff-only cookie or authenticated flag) and send `traffic_type=internal` only for those visits, then test an Internal Traffic filter before activating it. Don’t switch either filter straight to Active: exclusions are permanent and can take 24–36 hours to show up.
